Global knitting phenomenon Laine celebrates its 10th anniversary with a spectacular jubilee publication

Laine’s story began with a feeling and an idea – the desire to create a magazine that would be more than just a collection of knitting patterns. Today, Laine is a global phenomenon that has built a passionate community and established itself as a trendsetter in the international knitting world.
The anniversary issue offers a retrospective of Laine’s ten-year journey. It features 23 knitting patterns from designers who have played an important role in Laine’s history. Some of the designs are new interpretations of past favourites, while others are completely new creations.
"When we founded Laine, we didn't make grand business plans. We just wanted to create the magazine we were missing ourselves – a magazine whose images would tell stories and whose pages readers would return to again and again," says Jonna Helin, founder and CEO of Laine.
To date, Laine has published 92 books, 30 issues of Laine magazine in both Finnish and English, and eight special issues. Over the past year, books and magazines have been shipped to 92 countries, with the most distant destinations being Australia and New Zealand. Laine’s international appeal is also reflected in the fact that its largest market, accounting for approximately 30 percent of sales, is the United States.
"Gradually, I realized that we weren't just making a magazine but building a community. This anniversary issue is dedicated to this community and our journey together. It carries within it ten years of stories, friendships, creativity, and shared memories. I am incredibly proud of it and deeply grateful."
The book-like jubilee publication is not only a look back at the past but also a testament to the power and significance of print media in the digital age. It serves as a reminder that beauty, slowness, and crafting with one's hands are values that endure and connect people across cultural boundaries.
The Laine jubilee publication will be released on 30 July 2026.
